Iran has fulfilled its obligations in protecting the ozone layer

At the beginning of this meeting, Ebrahim Hajizadeh; The Director of the Ozone Layer Protection Project stated: The World Ozone Layer Protection Day dates back to 1994, when the member states of the United Nations General Assembly agreed to name a day for the protection of the ozone layer by approving the Montreal Protocol in that year.
He continued: “The Montreal Protocol sought to eliminate and reduce ozone-depleting substances, which happened with the unification of countries.” Our country also accepted this convention with the approval of the Islamic Council and committed to protecting the ozone layer.
The manager of the ozone layer protection plan said: Since then, our country has fulfilled its obligations well and even moved beyond these obligations and reduced 9800 tons of ozone-depleting substances through the control of industries, services and cultivation, which is The reduction of harmful substances happened through 1387 units and fortunately we were among the leading countries in this matter.
Hajizadeh stated: We also have a plan to remove 162 tons of ODP (2124 tons), which we are carrying out with the help of the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and the Italian government. Our other partner was GIZ (Government Professional Services Company of Germany). And fortunately, there was not much disruption in our work process.
He added: “This year, we had permission to use these gases in the amount of 247 tons, but only 123 tons were used. This reduction was not mandatory, but we were able to achieve this with the cooperation of our own devices and efforts.”
The director of the ozone layer protection project said: “We are ahead of our commitments in reducing ozone-depleting gases, and for this reason, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been praised.”
Hajizadeh noted: If the system moves forward in the same way and we pass the cruel sanctions, the situation will be better in the future.
