Iran has read America’s hand correctly – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

Mehr News Agency, International Group – Peyman Yazdani: Following a reasonable urge by the Iranian diplomatic mission to put the lifting of sanctions on the agenda in the Vienna talks, a joint working group set up exclusively to lift US sanctions on Iran held an expert-level meeting on Tuesday. In this meeting, the Iranian delegation emphasized the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to achieve a result.

During the meeting of the working group, Iran presented its demands in a cataloged and transparent manner and advised other delegations to present their solutions and proposals in an active and constructive manner.

Reports also indicate that other delegations, especially the Russian and Chinese delegations, welcomed Tehran’s pragmatic approach and clear presentation of its demands. The representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran, of course, emphasized in other delegations that the previous rounds of negotiations were only drafts that needed to be renegotiated.

One of the important points raised by Iran at this meeting was that anything that violates the UN Security Council and contrary to the practice of “normalizing Iran’s economic and trade relations with the world” should be removed.

Iran stressed that the two issues of sanctions and nuclear commitments should not be insisted upon in parallel, meaning that the issue of sanctions, which was the result of US action as a party to the agreement, should first be logically discussed and resolved.

Tuesday’s meeting was also held in a professional atmosphere, and finally, despite disagreements, everyone declared their readiness and seriousness to lift the sanctions and promised to interact with each other in this regard.

To find out more, we spoke with Nader Entesar, a retired professor of political science at the University of South Alabama. The full text of this interview is provided below.

* Before the start of the Vienna talks, the Europeans and the United States tried to influence the negotiation process by presenting a false picture of Iran’s demands and the composition of the team sent to Iran, and held Iran responsible for any possible failure of the Vienna talks. How do you evaluate the performance of the Iranian team from the beginning of the negotiations until now?

Based on what we know from the available reports and statements, the Iranian team has so far reacted appropriately and has not succumbed to threats and intrigues from the other side during the negotiations. The West will try to throw everything at Iran in order to impose its will on Iran. Iran must be vigilant as long as the Vienna talks continue.

* At the same time as the talks began, the Israeli Prime Minister in a video message called on other countries to refuse to reach an agreement with Iran. How seriously can his request be taken by other countries and why did he make such a request?

This has been the practice of Israel for many years. Israel has always been a behind-the-scenes player in Western relations with Iran and will continue to play a key role in any possible new agreement between the West and Iran.

* Iran has repeatedly stated that it is seeking a good deal to lift sanctions and normalize Iran’s trade and economic relations with the world. How legal and logical do you see Iran’s request??

Of course, Iran’s goal is logical and understandable considering the non-fulfillment of the West’s obligations in Borjam. However, legally, the United States cannot guarantee the lifting of sanctions. Given the structure of the US government and its poisonous policies, Biden’s words or commitments, and in this case, future US presidents, should not be considered legally binding. Iran clearly experienced this when Trump withdrew from the UN Security Council and forced Europe to follow Washington’s orders. In general, the problems of Iran and the United States are political and cannot be resolved through a legal charter.

* The United States suddenly raised the issue of an interim agreement, while Iran has stated that it will not waste time and will not accept negotiations for negotiations. How complicated can such a plan be?

Iran has read the American hand correctly. In the previous round of talks with Iran, the United States followed a lengthy round of negotiations to force Iran to accept minimum economic concessions to prolong the talks and to accept its (mostly non-nuclear) core demands. I think Iran has recognized this deviant tactic with a delay. That’s why the whole thing seems like a temporary deal, and it’s like an old, now-discredited dialogue-by-dialogue strategy.

* Today, Europeans have reportedly insisted on a quick end to the talks. Basically, why did the EU make such a request? How can it affect the negotiations?

This is the tactic of the good police, the bad police that the Europeans have been using for many years. Iran must be careful not to fall prey to European deception. As I have said many times, Europe is a secondary player at best and a dishonest loser at worst. The only major Western player in the epic of the Vienna talks is the country that is not at the negotiating table; That is the United States.
