According to Mehr news agency, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hossein in an interview with “Roodav” channel, stating that Iran and Turkey are important neighbors for his country, stressed that there should not be an attack on Iran from Iraqi soil.
In response to a question about Iran’s attacks on separatist groups based in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, the Iraqi foreign minister said: “Discussions in this regard are ongoing. I visited Iran once before the visit of Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani.” I went to Iran with him and after that a security-political delegation visited our country on their behalf.
He added: Iran’s foreign minister will participate in the Baghdad summit in Jordan, and I will meet him there. We will try to reach an agreement to end these attacks, we adhere to Iraqi law and Iran should not be exposed to attacks originating from Iraqi soil.
Fouad Hossein clarified: Iran has officially announced its demands, they said they do not accept that the political groups based in the Kurdistan region of Iraq are armed, attack Iran and cross the borders, there is currently a high committee. And the climate also participates in it. This committee is a security and negotiation committee between the parties. Iran has officially announced that these groups based there must be disarmed.
He said about the presence of Turkish troops in Iraq: This is a big and sensitive issue in Iraq, Ankara says that the PKK is present in those areas and is armed, they are present in Iraq and you cannot control them. Therefore, we will do this.
The Iraqi foreign minister stated: We are facing a big problem in two ways, firstly, the constitution of Iraq does not allow the presence of an armed group in our territory that attacks another side, this is Turkey’s right, and secondly, this right It is Iraq that Turkey should not penetrate into its territory.
In the continuation of his statement, he mentioned the Baghdad 2 meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Jordan, and his meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian, and said: The basis of this meeting is to discuss the situation in Iraq and the surrounding countries, meaning the surrounding countries of Iraq and the Gulf countries. Fars, Iran and Turkey will participate in it, but Syria cannot participate in it due to its conditions.
