Iran is at the top of the list of countries’ access to urban and rural drinking water according to the World Bank report


According to the economic correspondent of Fars News Agency, Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Minister of Energy, on the sidelines of the unveiling ceremony of the country’s water resources management monitoring counter, said: According to the latest report of the World Bank, based on global development indicators, Iran in the field of access to drinking water in the urban sector and village in the world and among the countries of the region at the top of the table.

He added: the percentage of access to urban and rural drinking water in Iran is 99.83 and 82%, respectively, while these indicators are 85.7% and 59.6% in the world and 83.2% and 69.5% among the countries of the Middle East. is assigned to itself.

Mehrabian stated: Iran is among the top countries in the world in the index of the speed of providing drinking water to the people.

Referring to the importance of wastewater, he said: water recycling is one of our most important plans, and we intend to move all water sources of the country’s industries, except food and pharmaceutical industries, from surface and underground water to purified wastewater.

Referring to the government’s plan to develop the wastewater treatment plant, Mehrabian said: “We have a plan to solve the wastewater economy, and in this regard, the wastewater exchange will be established at the place of the country’s energy exchange.”

He added: “The government is determined to solve the water problem city by city and village. In this regard, we had a water supply jihad plan, which has been opened today with 40% progress in two years.”

The Minister of Energy said: “In Sistan, we are affected by the non-release of the Hirmand license, which is our 2-year demand, but contrary to the receipt of this license, plans at 3 emergency, mid-term, and long-term levels have been put on the agenda.

He added: Supplying sanitary drinking water from other sources with desalination is on the agenda.

Mehrabian said: To solve the problem of Sistan, the water transfer plan from the lagoon and the sea has been put on the agenda, and these two plans will solve the water problem of Sistan.

The member of the cabinet of the 12th government said: The title of the Islamic Republic is a legal right, we will not take a step back from this right and Afghanistan is committed to pay it.
