The Minister of Roads and Urban Development, who will meet with the transport ministers of the regional countries during his visit to Abu Dhabi, continued: “We have had many connections with the UAE in the past in the field of maritime transportation, and these connections are still in place today.” But there are more capacities for cooperation in the field of combined transportation, especially for transporting goods from Dubai to Bandar Abbas and then to Russia and Central Asian countries from Iran via rail transportation, and we are ready to cooperate and assist with shipping companies. Bazarpash, as the head of the joint commission for economic cooperation between Iran and the UAE, said to the ministers and guests present at the railway conference: “North-South International Corridor can have a large share of international transportation between Russia and the CIS countries with India in the future. The Arab countries bordering the Persian Gulf and Europe are currently established in the eastern branch through the borders of Sarkhs and Inche Barun and in the middle branch through the port of Amirabad.

He added: In the western branch of the Caspian Sea, there is the missing Rasht-Astara ring inside Iran, which is 164 kilometers long, which is one of our priority projects, and the process of its construction has started and we are finalizing it in the next three years.

The easiest way for Central Asian countries to access global open waters

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development stated: Chabahar Port, as the only oceanic port in Iran located in the northern part of the Oman Sea, will play an important role in the future in the transportation and transit of goods from India to Afghanistan and the countries of Central Asia as well as Europe through the connection It will serve Iran’s rail network through the Chabahar-Zahedan railway.

He added: This rail route, in fact, will be the easiest and easiest way for Central Asian countries as well as Afghanistan to access international open waters through Chabahar port.

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development continued: In this regard, the 157 km long Khash-Zahedan railway, which is a part of this project, was opened, the entire Chabahar-Zahedan rail route has more than 60% progress and the process of completing it is underway. .

Bazarpash emphasized: Various international rail corridors pass through Iran, the most important of which are the North-South International Transit Corridor, the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran Rail Corridor, the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul Rail Corridor, the southern branch of the Silk Road, i.e. China rail corridor to Iran, Turkey and Europe, Almaty-Bandar Abbas and Almaty-Tehran-Istanbul corridors.

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development considers the transportation sector as one of the infrastructure sectors of any country’s economy, which can be considered as an indicator of the level of development, progress and dynamism of a country’s economy.

Bazerpash, as the head of the Joint Economic Commission, who has participated in the 2023 Middle East Railway Conference at the invitation of his Emirati counterpart to Abu Dhabi, stated: Considering the sensitive geographical and strategic position of Iran in the region and its connection with international open waters through Persian Gulf and the Sea of ​​Oman and due to the existing infrastructure of the rail network in connection with the neighbors and some important ports, now the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is somehow located in the center of the largest land area in the world, as an important transit route and communication bridge in connection Asia is considered to be Europe.

He announced that the development and operationalization of international rail corridors that pass through Iran is one of the priority programs of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in the meantime, the expansion of relations with neighboring countries is one of the fundamental policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and especially emphasized by the honorable president of the country.
