Iran: The United States and Israel must be held accountable for their actions in violation of international law

According to IRNA, “Heydar Ali Baluji”, Advisor to the Iranian Mission to the United Nations, explained the latest views and positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on regional security, cyber security and disarmament in a special meeting of the First Committee of the UN General Assembly. .
The Iranian diplomat said: “Peace and stability in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf are important for regional and international security, and Iran has presented various plans in response to the needs of the region.”
“Nevertheless, our region has witnessed several wars, widespread military presence, extremism and terrorism, and the use of force.”
Iran’s representative to the First Committee of the UN General Assembly stated that the main reason for these problems stems from incorrect views such as buying security from abroad, providing security at the expense of neighbors’ insecurity, and trying to gain regional dominance. The cowardly assassination of Sardar Qassem Soleimani, the hero of the struggle against ISIL, led to this.
Baluji stressed that cyber as a common heritage of humanity should remain just a peaceful arena and its irresponsible use will certainly cause insecurity and instability.
Referring to US actions to militarize the cyber arena and US and Israeli cyber attacks, he stressed that both should be held accountable for their actions. In such circumstances, the establishment of a new working group on security and the use of information and communication technologies with the advice of all UN member states can be effective in strengthening international security.
Baluji concluded by emphasizing that multilateralism is the best solution to strengthen disarmament and non-proliferation, and that we hope that the Disarmament Conference will be able to negotiate binding legal instruments, including the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty; The United States and Israel should refrain from multiple negative votes in Committee One, and the Disarmament Commission should be able to begin its substantive work after the end of American political work.
