According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Tolo News TV channel, “Akhtar Mohammad Nusrat”, the spokesman of the Ministry of Water and Energy of the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan, announced today, Monday, that according to the agreement between Kabul and Tehran regarding Helmand, Iran will be given annual water rights.

According to the Afghan media, the spokesman of the Ministry of Water and Energy of the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan continued: According to the agreement of 1351, under normal conditions, Iran has 22 cubic meters per second, and we have 4 cubic meters due to our good neighborliness to this country. we add. Of course, if there is a drought, less water flows to Iran.

In this connection, on June 25 of this year, a delegation from the Ministry of Water and Energy of the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan traveled to Tehran for consultation regarding the Hirmand concession contract. The purpose of this delegation’s trip was to consult on Iran’s concession agreement and allocation of Helmand water.

In this regard, Farooq Azam said that a delegation from the Ministry of Water traveled to Tehran to implement the text of the contract signed between Iran and Afghanistan in 1351 regarding the water of the Hirmand River.

Before this, the authorities of the interim government of Afghanistan had considered the issue of Iran’s occupation as resolved.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan, considered the issue of conflict between Afghanistan and Iran to be resolved and said that if the Afghan side has enough water, the Islamic Republic of Iran will also benefit from water.

In this regard, Inamullah Samangani, the deputy spokesperson of the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan, also said that Kabul adheres to all the commitments it made in advance regarding water rights with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
