Iraq announced the payment of all gas debts to Iran – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news



According to the Mehr News Agency, quoted by the Firat News website, Iraqi Electricity Minister “Ziyad al-Fazel” announced that all Iranian gas debts have been paid and as a result of the reduction in Iranian gas imports, Iraq’s electricity production has decreased by 2,000 megawatts.

He emphasized on Friday evening: All amounts related to the purchase of imported gas from Iran have been paid to this country.

Stating that Iraq currently produces 24,000 megawatts, which has increased by 22% compared to last year, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity said: “Since 20 years ago, the electricity problem in Iraq has not been addressed due to the uselessness of previous programs.”

Stating that his country has formulated two urgent and strategic plans to deal with the electricity situation and benefit from all production units, Fadel emphasized: The reduction in Iran’s gas flow has reduced energy production by about two thousand megawatts.

The Minister of Electricity of Iraq pointed out that the production of electricity in Baghdad has reached 6,400 megawatts and said: 24-hour access to electricity for people throughout Iraq requires the production of 34,000 megawatts per day.
