The World Travel & Tourism Council has announced the growth of the world tourism industry by 21.7% in 2021. In 2020 and as a result of the corona restrictions, this industry faced a negative growth of 50.4% and the value of this industry was reduced by 4900 billion dollars. But in 2021 and with the reduction of corona restrictions, 1000 billion dollars have been earned by the world economies through tourism.

According to this report, we have seen the revival of the tourism industry in Iran in 2021 with the fading of Corona. While during 2020, Iran’s tourism industry experienced a negative growth of 45% and its value decreased to 144 thousand billion tomans, in 2021, this industry in Iran experienced a positive growth of 40% and its value reached 202 thousand billion tomans. Increased.

The share of tourism in the total economy of Iran in 2020 was 3.1%, which increased to 4.1% in 2021.

According to this report, with the boom in tourism, the employment rate of this industry has also increased in Iran. In 2020, 1.2 million people were active in Iran’s tourism industry, but in 2021, this figure has increased to 1.9 million people with a growth of 700,000 people, equivalent to 7.6%. In the previous year, 34% of the employment in Iran’s tourism industry had disappeared.

With the boom of tourism in Iran, the share of this industry in the total labor market of Iran has also increased and increased from 4.8% in 2020 to 5.1% in 2021.

Most of the foreign tourists who entered Iran in 2021 were Iraqis. In other words, 34% of foreign tourists entering Iran this year were Iraqi.

Statistics show that foreign tourists spent 2.5 billion dollars in Iran in 2021, which is a 31.3% increase compared to the previous year. In 2020, the total spending of foreign tourists in Iran fell by 81.6% and reached 1.9 billion dollars.

In 2020, Iran’s domestic tourists spent a total of 93,894 billion tomans, which was a 39.7% drop compared to the previous year.

In 2021, the expenditure of domestic tourists in Iran has grown by 48.9% and reached 139 thousand 772 billion tomans.

According to this report, 99% of all tourist trips in Iran are made for recreation and 1% of trips are commercial.

While Turkey is one of the important tourist destinations for Iranians, in 2021, Turks also had a good chance to visit Iran, and Turkish tourists ranked second after Iraq among foreign tourists entering Iran. Out of all foreign tourists entering Iran in 2021, more than 15% of them were Turkish. In the previous year, the share of Turkish tourists from all incoming tourists to Iran was 9%.

Tourists from Pakistan with 10%, Republic of Azerbaijan with 9%, and Kuwait with 2% have ranked third to fifth in this regard. Other countries had a share of 29% of all incoming tourists to Iran in 2021.
