Is chicken cheap? – Online economy

According to the online economy report, quoted by ISNA, it has been a few weeks since the price of chicken has increased and reached more than 90,000 tomans per kilo in Tehran stores. The increase in the price, which the poultry industry activists cite several reasons for, including the increase in production costs and the lack of timely supply of inputs.

Habib Asadollah Nejad, an expert in the poultry industry, considered one of the reasons for this price increase to be the lack of timely supply of inputs and stated that the poultry feed is not supplied on time, and this has caused the poultry farmers to buy the feed they need from the open market at a low price. prepare higher ones.

According to him, while the government soybean price is 20,900 tomans, but because it is not supplied on time, chicken farmers buy it at a price of 35,000 tomans per kilogram.

He also called the approved price of one-day-old chicken as another reason for the increase in the price of chicken and said that the approved price of one-day-old chicken is 15,900 tomans, but the producers buy it at prices of 26,000 to 27,000 tomans.

Although there were speculations about the reduction of hatching, Mohammad Ebrahim Hasannejad – the deputy of livestock production affairs of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture – announced a while ago that we do not have a shortage in the production of chickens and chicks and that enough hatching has been done.

Yesterday, Hassannejad announced the decrease in the price of chicken and said that more than 140 million chickens will be hatched by the end of December, which promises a good production sector, and with the increase in production, in addition to meeting the country’s needs, the amount of storage in the country will increase. Also, with more production, the price will be more reasonable.

He also pointed to the arrangements made in order to supply the inputs of the poultry industry and announced that a significant part of the inputs needed by this industry is supplied from abroad, therefore, the necessary measures to supply corn and soybean meal have been put on the agenda in such a way that in This will not be a problem from now on.

As promised by the Deputy Minister of Jihad Agriculture, the price of chicken should decrease with the increase in production in the coming weeks and months. Now it has to be seen if the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture can implement its promise and balance the price of this highly consumed protein product? And whether the increase in the price of chicken in recent weeks has anything to do with the hatching rate?
