Pointing out that development is dependent on the environment, he said: We need development that is suitable for the environment, and the environment supports production. Considering that development destroys the environment in any way, Selajgeh said: A developed country that cares about the environment is not the countries that brought an accumulation of pollutants to human generations with industrial revolutions.
Pointing out that we have many evasions regarding the environment, he added: We must believe in repairing and paying for the damage to the environment, why does the Ministry of Health not implement Article 11 of the Clean Air Law? And why the inspection organization does not follow it up. There must be damages to the National Environment Fund so that this fund can provide services.
Considering that the Environmental Protection Organization is a regulatory organization, he said: The conference was held on a day when Tehran’s air is polluted, people have the right to demand from us, but the executive bodies must answer what has happened to the country’s weather conditions? We act according to the law because we are responsible.
He continued: “We are aware of the conditions of the country, but we do not allow further destruction of the environment. Who should count these patients who fell ill due to air pollution?”
Selajgeh said: I promise the people of Iran that the approaches that prevail in this government are environmental approaches, and not a single pickaxe has been planted in this government without an environmental permit. But the publication list of 1996 does not correspond to 1402. Issues related to wear and fuel should be investigated.
He continued: We are the inheritors of several decades when we treated the environment unkindly.
The head of the Environmental Protection Organization said: In matters related to public transportation, the Ministry of Interior and subordinate municipalities are obliged to fulfill their duties in the Clean Air Law of the country.
On behalf of the people, Selajgeh asked to consider sufficient budget capacities to protect the environment.
Pointing out that the country’s environment should reach its place, he said: We want transparency for the people and we are trying not to increase the level of pollution in the country.
The head of the environmental organization said: In this government, we are trying to take big steps in the discussion of fuel oil and turning off gas burners. In this government, many gas burners turned off, and about 9 of the country’s refineries were in the phase of improving pollution in the discussion of turning off flares. Good measures have been taken, but acceleration is needed.
