In August last year, WhatsApp introduced a new feature called Disposable Photos that allowed users to share disappearing media files with their friends on the social messenger. In fact, based on this feature, you can send files to others who can only open and see these images once, and then the desired file will be deleted immediately.
But when this feature was launched for WhatsApp, taking a screenshot was not blocked, and users could take a screenshot of the sent one-time photos and save the disappearing image to their smartphone easily. In this way, this feature very easily became a useless feature.
Taking screenshots of disposable photos is prohibited
WhatsApp is finally going to think about this issue and is working on preventing screenshots of disposable photos on WhatsApp to fix this glaring problem, along with some other privacy protection features. to give Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of WhatsApp’s parent company Meta, recently announced three new privacy features for the popular messaging platform. These features include screenshot blocking for one-time photos, an option to silently leave groups, and the ability to choose who can see your online time.
Prohibition of taking screenshots of one-time WhatsApp images makes this feature, known as View Once, a useful and practical feature. This feature is currently being tested and will be available to all users soon. In addition, WhatsApp has been working on an option for some time that allows users to hide their online status. We saw this feature in development in beta a few weeks ago, and Mark Zuckerberg has finally confirmed its presence in the final version. Apparently, this feature will also be released to all users at the end of this month.
Finally, WhatsApp users will soon be able to leave groups without the knowledge of other members. However, group administrators will still be notified when users leave their group. This change will probably be presented to users at the end of this month. Along with these three new privacy features, WhatsApp has also launched a new campaign to educate users about its new features and continued commitment to protecting users’ private conversations.
