James Cameron in one step of remaking history / “Avatar” is approaching the record of two billion dollars!

According to the film reporter of Fars News Agency, quoted by varietyAs “Avatar: Waterway” approaches the $2 billion mark at the global box office, James Cameron says it’s a reminder that moviegoers still value the movie theater experience in an age dominated by the virtual world and online streaming.

Speaking to Variety during the official Golden Globes digital preview, Cameron reacted to the “Avatar” sequel’s dominance at the box office.

“Rah Ab” has sold more than 1.7 billion dollars and is currently the seventh best-selling film in the history of cinema. With an international gross of more than $1.19 billion, the film is the fifth-biggest international opening behind “Avatar,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Titanic,” and “Avengers: Infinity War.” This means that James Cameron himself owns three of the five best-selling international releases of all time.

“I don’t think about it in those terms (that sales alone matter to me),” Cameron said when referring to Avatar’s announced sales and record numbers. I think we’re going back to theaters all over the world. They are even returning to cinemas in China, where they have a huge covid wave. As a society, we say: “We need this presence in cinema halls!” We have to go to the cinema. From now on, online and virtual streaming of movies is enough!

Cameron appeared on last week’s episode of the hit TV show “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” Avatar: The Last Airbender will generate the profits needed to make the remaining sequels, he said.

“Avatar: Waterway” is currently showing in theaters across the US and the world.
