According to the Mehr news agency, quoted by Reuters, the members of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council together with the United States issued a statement about Iran.

The statement came after a meeting of a joint US-Persian Gulf Cooperation Council working group in Riyadh, in which Washington and members of the Gulf Cooperation Council stressed that deeper economic ties with Iran would continue after the lifting of US sanctions.

The statement also accused the United States and members of the Gulf Cooperation Council of pursuing “dangerous and militant” policies, claiming that Iran had used advanced ballistic missiles and drones to attack vital infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

Regarding Iran’s nuclear program, it has been claimed that the US nuclear program is a matter of serious concern to the United States and members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as Iran’s steps will be important for its nuclear weapons program.

The GCC member states also said in the statement that they had informed the United States about establishing effective diplomatic channels with Iran.

The day before, the US Assistant Secretary of State had announced his intention to pursue a “new mechanism” with the Arab Gulf states against Iran’s regional activities.
