Kremlin: “BRICS” expansion is on the agenda of the upcoming summit – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

According to Mehr News Agency, quoted by Sputnik News Agency, “Dmitry Peskov”, the spokesperson of the Russian Presidential Office (Kremlin), announced on Sunday that “BRICS” members will discuss possible expansion in August this year.
In this regard, the spokesperson of the Russian presidential office said: “BRICS” expansion will be on the agenda of the August meeting. We are waiting for the BRICS meeting, which will be held at the end of August, and the issue of development will be on its agenda.
Dmitry Peskov continued: Russia is happy that more and more countries are showing strong interest in this issue.
According to this media, the candidates to join “BRICS” include Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Turkey.
These countries have expressed their interest in joining this group over the past months and years.
30% of the gross production and 40% of the world’s population are defined in BRICS. Iran and Argentina officially submitted a request to join this group in July last year, which was welcomed by BRICS members.
The BRICS group currently consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The term BRICS is formed by combining the first letter of the English name of these countries.
