Kremlin: Russia will not allow aggression against Belarus

According to the report of Fars International News Agency, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said today (Friday) that Moscow will not allow any aggression against Belarus.
Peskov said during a press conference in the Kremlin about the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, the presidents of Russia and Belarus: “The deployment of strategic nuclear weapons of the Russian Federation on the territory of Belarus was not discussed today.”
According to “Sputnik” news agency, he explained about this: “Belarus, like us, is surrounded by countries that have a very hostile attitude towards it. Since we are united countries, Russia cannot allow Belarus to be attacked.”
The Kremlin spokesman stated that the actions of the neighbors of Russia and Belarus are very unpredictable and unfriendly, saying: “Therefore, precautionary measures are necessary. Since the environment around us has changed significantly and the international conditions in the field of security have also undergone changes, we must update our conceptual approaches.
According to the report, Peskov also continued: “Russia should consider the possibility of providing security guarantees to Belarus as an ally and as a country with which we are integrating in the most advanced form.”
Stating that the security concept of Russia-Belarus union takes time, he added: “But it will be ready as soon as possible.” Considering the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, Russia’s nuclear deterrence base does not need to be increased.”
In response to a question about the possibility of China being influenced by the West, this Russian official said: “China is a great power and has a sovereign position, and it does not change its opinion under external influences.”
According to Sputnik, Peskov also emphasized about US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s statements about the imminent counterattack of Ukrainian forces: “Such statements are carefully monitored by the Russian military and taken into account when planning.”
He also added that French President Emmanuel Macron’s consultations with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping are very important and Russia is following the reports.
Yesterday, the spokesman of the Kremlin Palace stated that the expansion of NATO towards Russia’s borders is a cause of concern for Moscow, and said that this country is also taking measures to balance the security structure of the European continent. (More details)
