Kremlin spokesman: Russia does not give free gas to anyone

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday that Russia would not supply gas to anyone for free, according to Fars News Agency’s International Economics Group.

“We do not know all the companies with which Gazprom has a contract, and because this is their right, and you should ask Gazprom itself for this information,” Peskov told reporters at a news conference. “But it is obvious that no one gives cheap gas to other countries.”

The Kremlin spokesman made the remarks after Russian Prime Minister Alexander Novak warned on Thursday that energy conditions in Europe would worsen in 2023 as Russia exports 4 million barrels a day.

Finnish media also reported that Russia intends to cut off gas exports to the country.
