Lavrov announced the time of Iran’s official membership in the Shanghai Organization – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news

According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Sputnik website, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Iran’s full membership in the organization will be recognized at the upcoming meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, which will be held on July 4th (July 13).
He further added that many countries are trying to establish relations with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, but based on the decisions made, Iran’s membership in this organization will become official on July 4.
Earlier, “Bakhitor Khakimov”, Russia’s special representative for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, said that Iran’s full membership in this organization will be formalized in its upcoming meeting in New Delhi.
It should be noted that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was established in June 2017 by the heads of the countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia and China, and after that the founding countries agreed to the participation of India and Pakistan in this organization.
In September 2022, the process of joining Iran as a new member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was initiated and it is supposed to take an official form in the upcoming meeting of this membership.
