“Layers of Lies” movie press conference | Sohrab: I wanted to show the Iranian police as charismatic and attractive

According to Fars News Agency, on the third day of the festival and in the second chance, the press conference of the film “Layers of Lies” was held in the presence of the film’s agents and media people and with the performance of Hamed Mehrabani in the main hall of Milad Tower.

Ramin Sohrab (actor and director), Mohsen Sarafi (producer), Shiva Akbari (stage designer), Tina Soheili (costume designer), Mahyad Mimi (makeup designer), Ali Kian Arsi and Babak Ardalan (sound engineers), Jessica Wolf, Majid Saeedi, Alireza Kharkan, Venus Kameli, Nader Fallah and Ali Mir Alamzadeh (actors) were among the actors present at the meeting.

Ramin Sohrab, the director of the film, said about entering the action cinema: “I wanted to return to Iran from the age of five and revive the action genre, because unfortunately, the action genre was abandoned over the years, and I hope I have succeeded.”

“The reason the bodyguards spoke English was because we could show the film in an international way, and because the film was supposed to have international screenings, it was better that the percentage was in English,” he said. Be more.

“I am very happy to be in Iran and Iran and Iranians are in my heart,” said Jessica Wolf, the actress of “Layers of Lies.”

Mohsen Sarrafi, the producer of the film “Layers of Lies”, said: “I thank the media for their comments, but I prefer not to respond to comments that are insulting.”

He continued: Ramin Sohrab is not well acquainted with Iranian literature and left Iran when he was 5 years old. But I think this film is respectable, and it took 10 years of some agents to make this film, and an experience happened that will become more mature in the future.

Sohrab said about the action genre of his film: The action genre has its own genre and method of production and it can not be compared with other Iranian works. I would love to show the Iranian police as charismatic and attractive when my film is shown outside of Iran.

Sohrab said about the foreign release of this film: I do not worry about the financial return because the film is international and will have a foreign release. I made this work with my heart even if there is no financial return.

“We would like to screen this film in remote cities as well, and I hope that young and adolescent audiences will enjoy watching this film,” said Sarafi, the film’s producer.

Regarding the interaction with the Farabi Cinema Foundation, he said: “In co-production, there is a need for cooperation and interaction between the two countries and for them to be coordinated.” This interaction even in some cases includes the interaction of the ambassadors of the two countries. The Farabi Cinema Foundation also came to us as a facilitator and had a good interaction with us, apart from the financial discussion.

The producer said: the selection committee also showed courage in accepting this work in the festival and recognized that this work will be attractive to many audiences.

“I thank the critics because their work is helpful in improving the quality of the work,” Fallah said. I consider myself a cinema worker and cinema is a combination of genres, and when I saw scenes from Sohrab’s action work, I thought that it is interesting to watch these scenes on screen, and I collaborated with him. I admit that this script has its weaknesses, but let’s not forget that this genre of cinema is very deprived and it is just about to rise, and I fully defend this film.

Sohrab said: “We do not have many films in Iran that show urban attractions.” Remember that the action genre is not dialogue-oriented and should not be confused with a drama film. I know that the comedy genre is very popular in Iran and I would like to make an action comedy film.

The actor of this film, Majid Saeedi, further said about the challenge in this film: “I think there are few actors who accept to be in the action genre, but I accepted to play a role in it.” I have always played negative roles and it is hard to be a good person. Regarding English, I have to say that I am Iranian and I have to speak English in such a way that it becomes clear that the character hardly speaks English.

The producer of this film, Sarafi, said about his cooperation with the cinema organization: “Ramin Sohrab was able to get his film production license due to his activities, and the cinema organization was very supportive.”

Sohrab said about his interest in the action genre: “Before I went to Finland, I worked with Jamshid Hashempour as a child and this feeling of heroism remained in my mind and it was attractive to me.”

Regarding Sohrab’s filmmaking in Iran, Sarrafi said: Ramin Sohrab, due to his Iranian origin, tried to make films here, and this work has several locations, and the goal was to make the film look like Iranian architecture. Iran is well portrayed by this film and the foreign broadcaster, and it is not like it is a paradise for criminals.
