Majidi: We try to create trends by producing our works

According to the news reporter of Fars news agency, the media meeting of the third event of the Ashura short film “The 10th Picture” was attended by Majid Majidi, the director, Mohammad Rahbar, the secretary, and Behrouz Shoaibi, the project and idea manager of this event, accompanied by Jafar Al-Dib, the head of the Karbala network and the representative of Astan Imam Hossein. Also, this year’s slogan, like last year, is “I learned from Hussain”, which is important in any issue related to Imam Hussain (AS), such as justice, anti-tyranny, Arba’in, etc., and they can participate in this event.

Cinema is years behind literature in showing Hosseini’s concepts

After Mohammad Rahbar, Behrouz Shoaibi, the director of the cinema and the secretary of the idea department of this event, said: I consider attending this festival a great blessing because of its theme and of course the teachers who are present. It will help us to examine the different aspects of the life and uprising of Imam Hussain (AS) because we usually look at this event either from an epic point of view or from a personal point of view.

He added: We have received some of the plans since last year, but I hope we will receive other ideas as well. Cinema and images are years behind Hosseini’s literature and we hope that this event will help images and cinema to flourish in the subject of Imam Hossein (AS).

In the end, Shoaibi said: We welcome different views and this will be our first step to look at Imam Hussein (AS) differently.

After Shoaibi Jafar Al-Adeeb, the representative of Astan Imam Hossein (AS) and the head of the Karbala network in Tehran said: This is the second time that Atba Imam Hossein (AS) and Sheikh Abdul Mahdi, who is in charge of this Astan, support this event because they always have a positive view of art. We try to be independent

At the end, a question was asked about adaptation works, which Shoaibi explained about literary adaptation in works: Literature and cinema are close fields, but of course there is still no link between them in our country. I hope that this festival will spread different themes and can be a spark for films that are aimed at the general audience. All our efforts are to make better movies.
