Making music pieces using the sounds of Tehran


According to the Fars news agency’s music correspondent, the call for composing the Tehran Sonic project, making music pieces using the sounds of Tehran, was extended until the end of this year. Ehsan Tavakol, composer and secretary of the composition department of the Sonic Tehran project, announced the extension of the call for composing the Sonic Tehran project. This call is part of a large project led by Ms. Laden Nooshin, which examines urban sounds in Tehran with a team of ethnomusicology students.

The Sonic Tehran project started in 2021 and a large number of Iranian students from all over the world exchange views with each other in monthly meetings, and so far the project has been welcomed and willing to cooperate in it. The composition section of this project has started with the aim of making music pieces using the sounds of Tehran in the fall of this year. In the call of Tehran Sonic project, composers have been invited to send their works with the approach of looking at the sounds of Tehran again by March 20, 2010 at the latest.

In this project, discovering the hidden layers of Tehran’s voices, highlighting the sounds of the city’s special identity and using these sounds in the structure of a creative music will be a point in evaluating the composers’ pieces.

Ehsan Tavakol also announced the holding of several workshops to acquaint Iranian students with the history and method of making this method of composing. The composition team of this project includes Ms. Azadeh Nilchiani, Atefeh Einali, Mohsen Nourani and Iman Jasmi.
