According to Fars News Agency نشنال, Sotheby’s Dubai opened its exhibition with the unveiling of “The Man of Sorrows” by Sandro Botticelli. This painting of Jesus Christ will be displayed in Dubai until Tuesday.

The painting is expected to sell for more than $ 40 million at a New York auction in January. The work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, London and Los Angeles before returning to New York.

Botticelli’s works are very rare in art auctions, and less than five of his paintings are still in the possession of private collectors, and the rest are kept in museums around the world. The Man of Sorrows painting has not been on public display since 1963.

However, this is Botticelli’s second work to be auctioned in a year.

In January of this year, Botticelli’s “Young Man with a Circular Frame” sold for a record $ 92.2 million.

Sandro Botticelli (d. 1510) is a famous Florentine painter of the Italian Renaissance.
