“Maritime Tourism”; A great opportunity for Iran


With its water borders in the Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, Iran is one of the countries with significant maritime tourism potential that can be used to attract domestic and foreign tourists. According to the IRNA cultural group on Sunday, the tourism industry As the most important industry in the world in recent decades, there has been rapid growth in world economic development, one of the most important effects of this growth is the issue of job creation, which has been effective in developing and expanding job opportunities for different segments of society.

The presence of a tourist in any country can create jobs for a large number of people; From inbound transportation activists to urban transportation and resorts that include hotels or ecotourism to craft manufacturers and restaurant owners. One of the types of tourism that has a lot of fans in all parts of the world these days is sea tourism.

Maritime tourism

Iran is also a maritime country with several thousand kilometers of coastline that covers seven provinces of the country. In order to use the maritime tourism industry, the provision of infrastructure and facilities such as the construction of pleasure boats and yachts, the construction of recreational piers, marine parks and submarines should be a priority, and the development of maritime tourism seems to be a priority for the government.

Ezatullah Zarghami in a meeting with a group of representatives of the three northern provinces in the Islamic Consultative Assembly on 13 September pointed to the importance of maritime tourism and said: We have 400 km of coast in the north and 1100 km in the south with its islands reaching 2400 km, with The existence of our maritime tourism potential is zero.

The Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts stated: I have a serious plan for beach construction, construction of piers and exploitation of these capacities. I am identifying the capacities of the ministry and I am also pursuing this issue with the classes so that the private sector can enter this field seriously. I will seriously enter to buy tourist ships from the countries of the region and take advantage of their leisure capacity.

Maritime tourism

Reza Abazari, an activist in the field of tourism, in an interview with IRNA cultural correspondent, called the development of the tourism industry one of the ways to protect the environment and prevent land grabbing and added: “By promoting the culture of travel and tourism, positive results can be achieved.”
Abazari added: “While about half of our country’s borders are blue Iran and we are prone to maritime and water tourism, so far no significant activity has been done in this area and we need to develop a plan in this area.”
Referring to countries that have similar conditions to ours in the field of water borders, this tourism activist said: “Their performance can be used and if they are successful in maritime tourism, they can be modeled.”

About this type of tourism, Abazari added: “Many ships and even local boats can be provided for travelers to stay; Also, entertainment and hospitality is another pillar of maritime tourism that can be popular with tourists.

He mentioned the great diversity of maritime tourism and added: “Passengers can also board their car on a ship or float in maritime tourism with cruise ships.” Nature tourism, recreation and water sports are also among the features of sea tourism.
