Marotta: Juventus didn’t get what they expected by buying Ronaldo

According to Tasnim news agency, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta, who played the same role in Juventus until a few years ago, mocked his former employers in Turin for not meeting their goals of buying Cristiano Ronaldo in an interview with an Italian podcast.

Shortly after Ronaldo’s arrival at Juventus in 2018, Giuseppe Marotta unexpectedly left the Old Lady to join their arch-rivals shortly after. At that time, it was said that the reason for this separation was the strong disagreement between Marotta and the president of the club, Andrea Agnelli, for the purchase of Ronaldo, which did not seem far from the truth, especially since Agnelli personally worked to sign a contract with Ronaldo. However, Ronaldo left Juventus in 2021 without being able to help the old lady’s dream of conquering Europe.

In this regard, Giuseppe Marotta said: “The purchase of Ronaldo did not bring the results they hoped for Juventus.” Let me say this; The impact that Ronaldo had on Juventus was not as much as the cost that was spent to recruit him.

Juve paid 105 million euros to buy Ronaldo from Real Madrid and paid him nearly 30 million euros annually in the three years of this player’s presence in Turin. During Ronaldo’s time at the Bianconeri, the team won two Serie A titles and two FA Cups, but the quarter-finals were the highest the Old Lady reached in the Champions League.
