Massive demonstrations in Italy and the Netherlands on the occasion of Labor Day

According to the report of Fars International News Agency, workers in Italy and the Netherlands protested on Monday on the occasion of International Labor Day.

The trade unions requested the governments of these two countries to adopt policies that lead to the improvement of workers’ conditions and meet their demands in the field of wages and salaries.

In Italy, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was facing mass demonstrations and the trade unions in this country asked her government to increase wages and adopt reforms regarding the country’s tax policies.

Meanwhile, Meloni’s government plans to unveil a new package for workers on Monday.

In this package, it has been made easier for Italian companies to offer one- to two-year employment contracts, and measures have been taken to alleviate poverty in this European country.

Meloney, who is scheduled to hold a hearing on labor law reforms on Monday, said he would cut the new “citizen’s wage” package to encourage able-bodied people to work.

This means that the subsidy for poor people between the ages of 18 and 59 will be reduced to 350 euros per month. Meanwhile, this amount is currently 550 euros for each family.

Destitute families with small children or disabled or retired people can receive up to 500 euros per month for a maximum of 30 months.

Demonstrations were held in the Netherlands on International Workers’ Day and trade unions demanded an increase in workers’ salaries.

The largest trade union in the Netherlands has warned that it will call for a strike if its demands for higher wages due to high inflation are not met.

End of message.
