In the midst of a lot of discussions and interpretations, a trick is used to get the audience to go through irrational words and arrive at a different logic. A technique known as “irrational reasoning – parallel logic.”

In this media ploy, even weak arguments are made to make the audience think that they are making a choice and choosing a more accurate analysis, if they are practically entering into a parallel logic that they want. Going through wrong propositions does not necessarily lead to correct propositions, we may arrive at a vague or completely false proposition.

In an interview with Fars, Alireza Davoodi, Master of Media and Cognitive Sciences, while explaining the function of foreign Persian language media regarding the technique of “irrational reasoning – parallel logic”, said: “It is called sophistry in simpler terms because the basis of reasoning must be logic. Logic is derived from a process from fact to fact analysis.

Davoodi added: “When we talk about irrational reasoning, it means that apparently I am arguing a subject for you based on some facts, but basically those facts themselves do not make sense, but we create parallel logic next to it.”

Davoodi explained, for example, that the electricity has been cut off, the reason is that the power plants are worn out and the electricity is cut off, the reason is that, for example, we are exporting electricity to Iraq, now what term does the addressee accept in the power outage? It accepts your argument that power plants are worn out but does not see a logical argument for it, it sees in the parallel logic that is created, and basically an irrational argument is made to accept the audience of parallel logic regardless of what it understands. Davoodi continued: “They do this to make the second issue happen, so irrational reasoning involves a set of facts that are used to argue and the audience knows that there is no logic behind it or understands that it is irrational.” It is to reach the point where when they create parallel logic, they accept and understand it with minimal arguments and mental navigation over previous subjects.

It is instinctive to try to change people’s beliefs and actions by introducing data to prove that we are right and that they are wrong, but one should not ignore one’s current position when trying to persuade. When new information agrees with our beliefs, the brain eagerly accepts it, and if it contradicts our beliefs, our minds suddenly become a lawyer who seeks any conceivable flaw, so knocking, opposition. It does not weaken, but usually has a boomerang effect to the extent that a mockery may multiply the opposition.

Because we are often exposed to conflicting information and perspectives, this tendency will lead to polarization, which will receive more information over time. In fact, presenting information that contradicts previous beliefs can synergize and reinforce the core view known as the “boomerang effect.”

People may not use their intelligence to get more accurate results, but they can use it to find errors in data they are dissatisfied with. The greater the cognitive capacity, the greater the ability to rationalize and interpret information voluntarily and to present data creatively to accommodate feedback.
