Medvedev: Sending more weapons to Ukraine makes nuclear war more likely

According to the report of Fars International News Agency, Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy of the Russian Security Council, warned about sending more western weapons to Ukraine.

Referring to reports about the possibility of sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, Medvedev said on Tuesday (May 23) that the more destructive weapons Ukraine receives from its Western supporters, the greater the risk of nuclear war.

US President Joe Biden, while attending the Group of Seven meeting, announced his agreement to teach Ukrainian pilots how to use F-16 fighter jets. The US State Department announced on Monday that the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine is a priority for Washington.

After the US green light, the European Union’s foreign policy official has announced the start of training for the use of F-16 fighter jets to Ukrainian pilots.

In another part of his speech, the former president of Russia, referring to the attack on the Russian border city of Belgorod, said that Kiev’s denial of not being involved in it is a lie.

At least eight civilians were injured in the attack of a militia group that entered Russia’s Belgorod region from the border of Ukraine on Monday. The Kremlin called the attack a propaganda ploy to distract from Ukraine’s defeat in Bakhmut, a city in the Donbass region.

In today’s press conference, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also responded to the West’s intention to provide F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, saying that the provision of various weapons, including fighter jets, to Ukraine cannot weaken Russia’s operations. More and more people are involved in this war.

According to the estimate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the United States and its allies have provided at least $100 billion in weapons, equipment and ammunition to the Kiev government by the end of 2022.
