Michel Aoun called on the international community to support Lebanon in the face of the economic crisis



“We rely on the international community to fund vital projects, both in the public and private sectors, to revitalize the economic cycle and create new job opportunities,” Aoun told a video conference at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, according to IRNA. Be.

Aoun also called for support for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, adding: “We reject all proposals to integrate Syrians into Lebanon.”

Last month, the Lebanese president officially signed and announced the formation of a new Lebanese government headed by Najib Mikati. After receiving the order, Mikati described the situation in his country as “extremely difficult” and called for the unification of all Lebanese and groups to save the country.

The situation in Lebanon these days, which began two years ago, has become very complicated for the Lebanese people, with a lack of electricity and a sharp devaluation of the lira (Lebanese national currency) against foreign currencies, along with severe fuel shortages and rampant commodity prices. In this country, it has put additional pressure on the Lebanese people, the problems that have been imposed on Lebanon since the third term of the third Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, and now the new Prime Minister must find a solution to them.

The financial collapse in Lebanon began in 2019 and reached a crisis last month, when a severe fuel shortage paralyzed Lebanon, forcing public services, including hospitals, to close due to the fuel and electricity crisis. Or have reduced their working hours.

As the economic crisis and especially the fuel crisis in Lebanon became more serious, the proposal to import gasoline from Iran in Lebanese lira was made by Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran has moved towards this country.
