Migration of 30,000 migratory birds to Mill and Moghan Aslandooz wetlands


According to Ardabil Wave News Agency, Saeed Shahand Director General of Environmental Protection of Ardabil Province said: With the onset of the cold season, migratory birds including swans, geese, ducks, terns, cormorants, dernas, herons, waterfowl and a number of birds of prey have entered the country from the cold northern regions, especially from Siberia. And some of them stay in the province until spring and some of them migrate to warmer areas such as the Caspian Sea after a period of rest and feeding.

He added: Mil Moghan Dam Wetland in the corridor Migrating Birds It is located and every year with the onset of autumn rains and cold weather in Russia and Northern Europe, a large number of migratory birds overwinter in this lagoon.

Director General of Environmental Protection of Ardabil Province Expressing that the area of ​​this wetland is 996 hectares, he added: “Mil Moghan Dam wetland is a place of permanent residence or more than 30,000 birds in the form of 79 different species for several months and therefore it is one of the most unique wetlands in Iran.”

Shahand stated: In addition, Mil Moghan wetland is a suitable place for spawning and breeding of native fish species such as perch, yolk, wire, black fish, fish sauce, black gypsy, sturgeon and gypsy and animal species such as tortoises.

Mill and Moghan Dam is one of the most spectacular and attractive places in Ardabil province. It is located 50 km from Pars Abad city and 3 km from Aslandooz city on the Aras border river and 260 km downstream of the Aras reservoir dam and is one of the important wetlands in Ardabil province.
