Minister Samat’s visit to Armenia with the aim of strengthening trade relations and defining new target markets

The Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade of our country will continue his foreign travels to facilitate Iran’s trade and economic relations with neighboring countries, and will travel to Armenia this week at the head of a trade delegation.

According to Shata, this year a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Small Industries and Industrial Towns Organization of Iran and the Investment Support Center of the Republic of Armenia, and the first exhibition of Iran’s production and industrial capabilities was held in Yerevan, accompanied by a strong presence of Iranian companies.

Following Iran’s memorandum of understanding with the Eurasian Trade Union, Iran’s foreign trade with Armenia experienced significant growth. The Armenian market is a special opportunity for small and medium-sized Iranian enterprises, especially in the field of food, home appliances and nuts.

Armenian industry is in dire need of industrial cooperation with Iran, and in this way, good interests for the country can be defined. Opportunities must be seized in a timely manner to achieve this result, because otherwise, other countries and competitors will replace us in this neighboring country.

A special opportunity for small Iranian enterprises

It is necessary to provide conditions for the presence of Iranian companies, especially small and medium enterprises that can compete in the market of this country, in order to gain access to other global markets while gaining a market and a permanent presence in Armenia.

Construction industry products such as cement, brick, stone, tile, ceramic, doors and windows, elevators and elevators, as well as agricultural and food products and equipment, medical software and hardware equipment, home appliances and solar panels are among the Iranian products. They can find a good market in Armenia.

Given that Armenia’s trade tariff with countries such as Canada is 4%, these conditions can be used to supply Iranian goods to other countries and to be present in the North American market.

A golden opportunity to export Iranian products to Armenia

One of Armenia’s main obstacles to expanding trade with the rest of the world is landlocked access to the sea. This has increased Armenia’s need for its neighbors.

Meanwhile, the two important neighbors of this country, namely Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan, do not have a good political relationship with Iran’s northern neighbor. Although the two countries have trade relations with Armenia, this relationship has always been affected by political conflicts. These issues have created a unique business opportunity for other neighbors and countries close to Armenia, such as Iran.

Development of economic and trade diplomacy with the countries of the region

It is worth mentioning that this trip, like the previous trips of the Minister to Oman, UAE and Qatar in line with the plans of the 13th government to develop economic and trade diplomacy with countries in the region, especially neighbors, is designed based on the approaches of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade and Trade Development Organization. Iran is always being pursued in order to provide the necessary bases for the activities of the Iranian private sector in neighboring countries.

Certainly, with the increase of activities in the field of economic and trade diplomacy of the country in the future, we will see the growth of economic and trade exchanges of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the countries of the region, especially neighboring countries.

Armenia is one of the countries of the Eurasian Union, which due to sanctions can be considered as a transit route for Iranian goods to Russia and even to European countries. From this route, we can export goods, supply technologies, as well as machinery and technical and engineering services.
