Mohammad Taghi Fahim: We need to make maximum use of the capacity of short film makers

According to the Fars news agency, the 18th short film hangout titled “Short Sundays” organized by the Revolutionary Cinema Society and the Holy Defense of Fatah Cultural Foundation with the screening and review of the film “On top of the road” directed by Marjan Ashrafizadeh and with the presence of critic and cinema expert Mohammad Taghi Fahim. It was held in Asveh Cultural and Art Complex on Sunday, September 13.
In this meeting, Marjan Ashrafizadeh, the writer and director of the cinema, referring to the process of the idea to the production of the short film “Up on the Road” said: This film was made in June 1380, it was my fourth or fifth short film, I was a student of the Youth Cinema Society. And short film professors didn’t teach professionally, so we came up with film production completely experimentally. The conditions for making and producing at that time were very difficult. When I was ready to make it, they had made the movie Bao the year before, which was close to my movie, but for me it didn’t matter at all because every movie speaks for itself. The film was seen in its own size and won an award.
Referring to the time of film production during the transition from negative to digital, this cinema director added: I am happy that I was able to make this film in 35 mm format, while it is much easier to produce a film in digital format, but we were working with 20 negative rolls, so that 19 of them were The material was of poor quality and we made the film with the only high-quality negative roll we had, and all these were experiences that I used and enjoyed.
The director of the film Abji also said about the subject and content of the film: the fact is that there was a mentality that this film would approach the end without logic. It existed as a director who has the ability to overcome physics. In those years, because many stories were made of this range, these points were not seen.
Furthermore, Mohammad Taqi Fahim, a film critic, also mentioned the current state of short films in the country and stated: Unfortunately, after learning how to make films, short film makers are no longer willing to continue producing short films and instead turn to feature films. For example, homosexuality was not discussed at all until the last few years, but now we see that short films are being made about homosexuality, and this is because there is no concern in this area; The contents of the works tend towards the West, while there are a lot of concerned filmmakers in the country, and one regrets why these capacities are not used better.
At the beginning of this meeting, the short film “Up there on the side of the road” directed by Marjan Ashrafizadeh was played for the attendees.
Specialized short film meetings titled “Short Sundays” organized by the Revolution Cinema and Sacred Defense Association of Fatah Story Cultural Foundation are held every Sunday at 17:30 at Esveh Cultural and Art Complex, and entry is free and open to audiences and short film enthusiasts.
