Mora tweets ahead of trip to Tehran: Work continues on resolving remaining disputes

According to Fars News Agency’s International Service, “Enrique Mora,” the EU’s deputy foreign policy chief and coordinator of the Vienna talks, tweeted, referring to his visit to Tehran, that he would meet again with Ali Bagheri Kani and other Iranian officials to discuss the Vienna talks and others. The issues are on their way to Tehran. He added that work is continuing to resolve the remaining disputes in the negotiations.

Mora is scheduled to visit Tehran for the second time this year, following a recent agreement between EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

“Saeed Khatibzadeh,” the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, said in a weekly meeting on Monday, May 10, regarding the visit of Deputy Borrell to Tehran: “Negotiations have continued uninterrupted until today.” There has been a pause in Vienna, but the exchange of messages is taking place through the dialogue coordinator.

He added: Mora’s trip will take place after the phone call between Amir Abdullahian and Borrell. This does not mean that he will come up with a new message after the interruption. Messages are constantly being exchanged between Iran and the United States through the European Union. Of course, according to Borrell’s proposal and Amir Abdullahian’s welcome, it was necessary to hold a face-to-face meeting and consultations in Tehran. Mora will meet with Mr. Bagheri, Senior Negotiator of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Of course, the agenda of the talks in Tehran is almost clear. We hope to be able to announce the result better after these talks.

Regarding Mora’s meetings in Tehran, he added: “Let him enter Tehran, it will be announced later, and for now the only definite meeting is with Mr. Bagheri as the chief negotiator.” He has requested other meetings inside and outside the State Department.

Earlier, Austrian journalist Stephanie Lichtenstein wrote in a Twitter message that Enrique Mora would travel to Tehran on Tuesday and stay in Iran until Friday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.
