Morais: I am very happy to be in Iran again. We had a good season. Last season our team project started and today is the time to continue this project. Undoubtedly, the gap between the two seasons is a good opportunity for us to prepare in order to achieve our goals, and this matter is of considerable importance. For this reason, we needed to rest for a while, but during that time we were all focused on the things that had to be done. Personally, I am always looking for updates and we have to learn a lot along the way. We have to have different players, their quality, watch different games in different parts of the world and pay attention to what is happening in the transfer market. Morais: In the last season, we learned a lot from the people, players, league, fans, culture and the country of Iran, and especially the feeling we have towards the people, the country of Iran and the place where we live, makes us grow and improve. I am very interested to learn different things about Iranian people’s way of life and their feelings and thoughts.
* Sepahan fans are very happy to see Jose Morais by their side again and undoubtedly have high expectations from the team this year in the Asian Champions League.
Morais: I realized last year that Sepahan has passionate and valuable fans. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the season, we didn’t have the fans by our side in many games as we should have, and in the final games, we saw the support of the fans by our side, and that’s when I realized the power and attractive atmosphere of Sepahan fans’ support. Definitely, in order to succeed, we must constantly strive to improve the conditions of the team and we must prepare ourselves to win at any moment. First, we must create a winning mentality in our minds, and our point of view is a championship mentality, and today we know more about the winning mindset in Iranian football than before, and this is very important for success in competitions.
Anyway, last year’s champion was the Persepolis team, Esteghlal the year before that and Persepolis the year before that again, and this is despite the fact that we have always been on the championship course. Last year, we had significant quality and there was a possibility of winning the championship in the team. What we have to do this year is to improve our quality and capabilities compared to last season. * You talked about Sepahan fans. Sepahan fans always ask questions about their presence in team training. What is Jose Morais’ answer to them?
Morais: I understand that the fans are interested in communicating with the players and are interested in being with the team and supporting the team in training, but sometimes the training conditions are not such that we can have the presence of the fans by our side because sometimes the concentration and We consider silence and special programs in training and there may be special conditions.
We have to constantly work to prepare the players in training and today we are working in this regard in one way and when the doors of the league open and the matches start, we cannot allow them to be on the training ground because we need a different kind of focus. Especially now, we are busy preparing the team and this condition exists in other fields as well. No one watches a movie before it’s released in theaters. The presentation of the players is on the day of the game and before the matches we are busy with preparations, training work, improving the confidence of the players and preparing ourselves. Undoubtedly, the concentration that I expect is not possible in the presence of spectators and fans in training. Of course, at the moment, my intention is to provide planning for the presence of fans in some training sessions, so that this happens by attending the training, but it may not be possible to do this permanently.
* Talk about the upcoming season and your plans for the season. What is your specific look and approach for the next season?
Morais: My plan and view is to provide the ground for team improvement and this plan is followed day by day. Our goal is for Sepahan to be a leading team, and compared to last season, we have adapted and become more familiar with the conditions, and this year, with different players and resources, we are thinking about making the team’s games better and more effective. Of course, I can’t explain the details in front of the camera because it’s not easy to describe, but without a doubt we will continue to improve the team this year, especially since we are starting at a different level. Our starting point was if we started from 10% last year and we reached 50%, I think this year we will start from 30% and if we had 40% development and improvement last year, without a doubt, starting from 30% and improving to 40% will make us It reaches 70%. This year is the second year of our presence and companionship with each other, and the improvement and promotion of the team will undoubtedly happen in a shorter time, and in my opinion, the value of the promotion of the team will be more than last year. On the other hand, the quality of the team has improved from 40% last year, in my opinion, to 50 or 60%. With new players we achieve this goal and without a doubt with this upgrade we can reach a new level of quality of matches.
* Tell us about your life in Isfahan. How are you in Isfahan?
Morais: I really feel good about being in Iran and I say this with all my heart and I pray for the Iranian people because I love the Iranian people very much.
* You have been in different cities of Iran. What do you think about the people of these cities?
Morais: Yes. I was talking about this. Iranian people are really wonderful and I love them very much. I wish from the bottom of my heart for people’s happiness and I wish that people live together in peace and happiness everywhere in Iran. I think this is possible and good things can be achieved together in Iran. Iran is a wonderful country and I am sure that all of us can be happy together because this is what God wants.
* Is there any special food from Isfahan that you are particularly interested in?
Morais: I like blackberry very much. This is a food that I am very interested in.
* Have you ever tried yogurt stew?
Morais: Yes. I tried it and it’s a good dessert, but it’s not my favorite dish, but I know it’s one of the traditional dishes of Isfahan. I have tried the yogurt stew and I like it a lot, but if I had to choose, my favorite dish would be black cabbage! There is also a traditional dish called Briyan. Briyan is also very good. Of course, the way of cooking rice in Iran and Isfahan is also very special and I like this type of food very much.
* As a last question, please address your message to Sepahan fans.
Morais: You know that football is not possible without you and the club is not alive without fans. Sometimes we want to give you everything we have, but the time when we give what we have doesn’t match the time when you receive it.
