An Iraqi security source said several mortar shells hit the al-Maqdadiya area in Diyala province.
According to Sputnik, quoting the Mehr news agency, the source added that four mortars hit the villages of Al-Harb and Al-Anbakiyah in Diyala on Thursday evening.
He also said that the mortar shells did not cause any casualties.
Meanwhile, Iraqi sources reported last night that eight people were killed and 10 others were injured in an ISIL terrorist attack in Diyala province.
According to the report, a security source said on Tuesday that ISIL terrorists attacked the village of al-Rashad in al-Maqdadiyah.
He added that eight people were killed and 10 others were injured in the attack.
The source also announced the deployment of reinforcements to al-Rashad to control the situation.
Meanwhile, Iraqi sources reported an armed attack on some other villages in al-Maqdadiyah.
On the other hand, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command issued a statement declaring that ISIL terrorist gangs were unable to confront the military and security forces and resorted to their desperate methods of targeting innocent civilians.
