Narrated by Shirin Abu Aqla’s colleague from the moment of his martyrdom

According to Fars News Agency, Shati Hanayesh was with him when Shirin Abu Aqla was martyred by Israeli soldiers. He is a reporter for the two news magazines “Olt Ra Plestein” and “Middle East I”, in an interview with Press TV, he narrated the details of the day of Shirin’s martyrdom.

Describing the incident as “the most difficult experience” of his life, Shatha Hanayesh said: “We lost someone we fell in love with. Someone who was like a teacher to us. Someone we looked up to as a role model. It is difficult to accept his death.

He continued: “Now that I am talking to you, more than a week has passed since his death. But I have not been able to digest it yet. I still can not understand what happened, why Shirin was killed, why they tried to kill us.

Hanayesh stated that she still does not dare to watch the released videos of Shirin’s death: I was just thinking about Shirin, I wanted to touch her to see if she is still alive. I was thinking about how to help him. How to protect him and how to prevent bullets from hitting him.

“I know who shot Shirin and tried to kill the rest of us,” he said. They were Israeli forces and no one else. There is no question of confusing (us) identity at all. They deliberately tried to kill us because when my colleague Ali (Al-Samudi) was shot, the shooting continued until Shirin was also targeted and fell to the ground.

“They killed Shirin and they wanted to kill us too, because they want to intimidate us (journalists) so that we can stop our work and not expose their crimes.”
