Accordingly, on November 11, 1400, the first joint meeting of the Iran-Qatar Joint Understanding Committee on Energy was held.

This meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy, foreign Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs, Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts and Roads and Urban Development were held with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and the Trade Development Organization while many economic issues were considered.

In addition to the deep importance of foreign policy and the issue of energy security, Iran’s becoming a hub for electricity production and distribution in the region has a significant role in the country’s sustainable energy supply. If there is a connection between Iran’s electricity network and the electricity network of neighboring countries, this peak consumption rate is provided by the energy produced by other countries that have different energy peaks than Iran.

Unfortunately, in recent years, the issue of creating the necessary infrastructure to make Iran an energy hub has not been taken seriously, but countries in the region have taken many steps to replace Iran.

For example, the German company Siemens, in the form of a contract, aims to make Afghanistan the hub of electricity distribution in the Central Asian region, or the US company GE is expanding Iraq’s energy infrastructure in the form of various contracts.

In such circumstances, the news of the connection of the electricity network between Iran and Qatar using the offshore transmission line can be the first step to return to the path of Iran becoming the energy hub of the region and use all the above benefits.

On the other hand, the private sector of the country’s electricity industry, with 60% of the country’s electricity production, can play a very effective role in achieving the goal of Iran becoming the energy hub of the region and be the main arm of the government in this regard.
