Necessary steps to normalize relations with Syria were discussed at the Moscow meeting – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news

According to Mehr news agency, citing Anatolia news agency, the Moscow quadrilateral meeting was attended by Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar and Head of the Turkish Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan, Sergei Shoigu, Mohammad Reza Ashtiani and Ali Mahmoud Abbas, the Ministers of Defense of Russia, Iran and Syria and the heads of the intelligence organizations of these countries today. (April 25, 2023) was held in Moscow.

The Ministry of Defense of Turkey issued a statement in this regard and announced: In the aforementioned quadrilateral meeting, the acceleration of the process of returning Syrian refugees to their country was discussed.

The said statement adds: In the quadrilateral meeting of Turkey, Iran, Russia and Syria, the fight against terrorist groups and all extremist groups in Syria was discussed and investigated.

Ankara also announced that the other focus of this quadrilateral meeting is to strengthen the security situation in Syria, examining the steps that can be taken to normalize relations between Ankara and Damascus.

The said statement adds: In the said meeting which was held in a constructive atmosphere; The importance of continuing the quadrilateral meetings in order to guarantee and maintain stability in Syria and the region was emphasized. Also, the parties present at the Moscow quadrilateral meeting confirmed the need to respect the territorial integrity of Syria.
