Negotiations between the Russians and the Turks to establish a gas hub in Turkey

According to the report of Fars News Agency’s International Economy reporter, quoted by Dunya newspaper, Russian ambassador to Turkey, Alexey Yerkov, said in an interview that the two countries are negotiating at the expert level to establish an international gas distribution center to transfer Russian gas to Europe.

He said: As far as I understand, our countries are currently examining this issue at the expert level, and the details of these negotiations are very important.

This Russian official emphasized: Russia has always fulfilled its commitments regarding gas export to Turkey, and there should be no doubt about the stability of this fundamental issue of Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his speech at the Russian Energy Week forum held last week, proposed the creation of a gas hub near Turkey and the transfer of Russian gas from this country to Europe; Because Russia can no longer export gas to Europe through the Nord Stream network.

Putin said: We may need to build a new gas pipeline and create a gas hub in Turkey, and our gas will be transferred from this pipeline to third countries and Europe as the first step. Of course, if Turkey is willing to do this.

This issue was also discussed during the meeting between the presidents of Russia and Turkey on October 13 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
