New chapter of the activities of the Youth Cinema Association


According to Fars News Agency, citing the public relations of the Youth Cinema Association of Iran, this institution as the most comprehensive film school in the country and the largest producer of short films in Iran and the main trustee of the country’s basic cinema, due to some weaknesses arising from the community’s own points. 1. Strengthening local cinema through diversification and reproduction of genres in short films and supporting adaptations

Observing the loss of diversity, the unification of filmmaking tones and the weakening of indigenous filmmaking methods in some parts of the country, and in order to establish the status of short films as a creative and proposing cinema, “Strengthening indigenous cinema through diversification and duplication of genres.” In the short film “is on the agenda.   • Prototyping of genres with a workshop model and under the supervision of consultants and producers
  • Collecting and publishing a collection of short stories approved by the Adaptation Council to produce an adapted short film

2. Expanding distribution channels and short film hangouts

Because short films do not play a significant role in the national media and even on major online platforms, and many short film hangouts, clubs, festivals and events have been closed in the last two years following the outbreak of the coronavirus, and short film viewing routes are limited. There have been several domestic and foreign festivals, and the Young Cinema Association will put the “expansion of distribution and screening routes and short film hangouts” on the agenda of the following routes:

  • Increasing the share of short film screenings in the national media and stabilizing the broadcasting rights of films
  • Re-launching national film and photo weeks and regional festivals across the country
  • Expand weekly hangouts, critique and short film screenings in all offices
  • Quantitative and qualitative strengthening of short film screenings in the context of virtual platforms

3. Smoothing the filmmaking path of the graduates of the Iranian Youth Cinema Association

The Youth Cinema Association considers it its duty to train filmmakers and technical talents to play a role in the future of Iranian cinema.

  • Establishment of the Primary Film Club in the Iranian Youth Cinema Association to support the filmmaking of talented graduates
  • Supporting top educational talents in interactive film-based workshops
  • Identify and guide technical talent in technique-based acceleration workshops
  • Supporting film startups in young cinema offices
