New President of the Basketball Federation: The staff of the national team will be strengthened
According to IRNA, “Javad Davari” said on Monday after being elected as the new president of the Basketball Federation: “Our program is based on the development of basketball, the development of women’s sports, cultural issues and the development of this field in the provinces.” These are three areas that need to be addressed immediately. Four years is too short and we have to have a long-term plan. Programs are presented based on existing challenges.
He continued: In Isfahan, I was the chairman of the provincial board and I am fully aware of the problems of the provinces. We will definitely have plans for financial problems. We also have a lot of work to do in the national and grassroots teams. As for women’s basketball, which has just entered the world forums, we have prepared a good program so that they can achieve results.
The new president of the basketball federation added: the energy assembly elections were postponed three times, but this happened due to the efforts of Mohammad Pouladgar, the deputy minister of sports, who promised to hold the assembly before the end of the year. Basketball was on the sidelines and confused, but Mahyar Asgarian, the head of the federation, was able to do well and we hope to continue to use him.
Regarding the presence of a foreign coach in Iranian basketball, the referee said: “We really have a problem in discussing education.” Of course, we respect all Iranian coaches. We have not yet discussed the executive. We will talk about the national team soon in the meeting of the technical committee that I will have. I also ask the sports community, especially the Ministry of Sports and the Olympic Committee, to include a 5-on-5 women’s team in the Asian Games.
Regarding the men’s national team, he said: “With yesterday’s victory of the children against Syria, the situation improved.” We could also defeat Kazakhstan. Basketball has its ups and downs and nothing has happened that we are upset about. We have to go to the skinning in the national team. There will definitely be action to strengthen the staff of the national team.
The president of the federation said about the basketball house: “I will definitely try to fulfill at least this request of my basketball friends, which is right, in these four years.” Unfortunately, the national team games are still held in Azadi Hall. This hall is really small for Iranian basketball. We also have thoughts about the national team’s dedicated camps.
In this assembly, which was held today, Monday, at 10:25 a.m., chaired by Seyed Mohammad Poladgar, with a 25-minute delay, the referee won 38 votes at the helm of our country’s basketball.
At the beginning of the assembly, he was excluded from the election due to the absence of Hamid Abbasi. Karam Ahmadian, Javad Davari and Shapoor Yavari participated in this election.
Kikaus Saeedi as the representative of the National Olympic Committee and Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa as the representative of the National Paralympic Committee were present in this assembly.
Javad Davari has been a former player of the Iranian national basketball team and the head of the Isfahan Basketball Board.
According to the new articles of association, the elected chairman must nominate five members of his board of directors (2 vice-chairmen, 2 experts and a treasurer) in order to be finally elected by the members of the assembly.
Sohrab Kayhani with 55 votes was elected as vice president, Fataneh Malek with 47 votes as vice president, Enayatullah Atashi with 57 votes and Manizheh Norouzi with 48 votes as experts and Assadollah Kabir with 27 votes as representatives of provincial delegations.
