Nicolas Cage’s comedy film opens the Zurich festival / Celebrity Madness

Nicolas Cage’s “Dream Scenario” was selected as the opening film of the 2023 Zurich Film Festival.

Charso Press: According to Variety, Christopher Burghley’s comedy “Dream Scenario” starring Nicolas Cage will open the 19th Zurich Film Festival.

This film, which has its European premiere with this festival, is about a loser named Paul Matthews (played by Cage). He’s a quirky college professor who’s never been successful at his job, but becomes an overnight celebrity after appearing on a TV show, and his whole life changes when he realizes that millions of people are suddenly seeing him in their dreams. But when his nocturnal appearances turn into a nightmare, Paul is forced to follow a different path.

Borghli, the 38-year-old Norwegian director who met with positive reviews last year with the film “My Patient”, will be present at the premiere of his film alongside Swiss Federal Council President Alain Brest and Zurich Mayor Korin Mausch.

Christian Jungen, the artistic director of the festival, expressed his pleasure that this year’s festival will open with an up-to-date comedy about the daily madness of celebrity culture and added: “The boycott culture often follows this phenomenon, and for this reason, this film is really the pulse of today’s times and very funny.” And Nicolas Cage gives one of the best performances of his career as the movie professor, and he’s a real treat to watch.

In the picture released from the movie, Cage can be seen with a different make-up and a set of dice, with a car parked behind him with pink spray written on it: Loser.

Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Juliana Nicholson and Kate Berlant are other actors of the film, and the film, which is produced by A24 Company, is also present at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The 19th Zurich Film Festival will be held from September 28 to October 8 (October 6 to 16).

It was previously announced that the German actress Diane Kruger, who won the best actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017 for Fatih Akin’s “Elimination”, will be honored with the “Golden Eye” award in Zurich this year.
