According to Mehr news agency, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in a conversation with Sputnik news agency in Tehran that the cost of this project is one billion and 600 million euros, of which 85% is a facility. which Russia has provided to Iran and 15% of it is allocated directly by Iranian partners and colleagues.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia continued in this connection: The payment facility is for 15 years. As part of this project, operations are implemented as construction progresses and appropriate resources are selected. This agreement, which was signed today, is bilateral and includes the construction of a railway line in Iran with the participation of Russian companies and the financial support of Moscow.
“Alexander Novak” added: “But let’s talk about the western route of the north-south railway through the territory of Russia, Iran and (the Republic of) Azerbaijan.” As you remember, on September 9, 2022, we signed a memorandum of understanding in Baku that the transport corridor with a capacity of 15 million tons should be implemented.
He further added: Currently, a tripartite agreement between Russia, Iran, and the Republic of Azerbaijan is underway for the implementation of this project, and this process goes along with the bilateral agreement. Therefore, it is necessary to complete the construction of the route and at the same time ensure the passage of at least 15 million tons of cargo on the soil of each country. There are narrow sections that are repaired and reconstructed to ensure the passage of such a volume.
Mehrdad Bazarpash, Minister of Roads and Urban Development, in separate meetings with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelev, finalized the cooperation documents of the two countries in the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway, which will be signed in the presence of the highest executive officials of the two countries. became.
In these meetings, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of our country emphasized the increase of cooperation and the use of existing capacity in combined transportation using sea and rail transportation through the Caspian-Rasht railway, which will be completed soon.
He continued: With the completion of 35 kilometers from Rasht to Caspian port in the near future, this port will be connected to the southern ports of Iran in the Persian Gulf, especially Bandar Abbas, through the rail network, which is an important development in combined transportation with Russian ports in It will be north of the Caspian Sea.
