On the eve of the transition to proof-of-stake, Bitmain starts selling a new Ethereum miner – ErzDigital

While Ethereum mining is in its final days and the network is moving towards a proof-of-stake model, Bitmain, the world’s largest manufacturer of mining rigs, will sell a new rig for mining Ethereum and Ethereum Classic in the next hour. begins

To Report CoinDesk, the Bitmain company, starts selling its new Ethereum mining rig model on its website today. Meanwhile, Ethereum developers have been trying to update the network for the past few months and change the current proof-of-work consensus method to proof-of-stake.

The Chinese manufacturer of mining rigs announced this news on Twitter on Tuesday (July 14) and wrote that “the unveiling time has come”.

Unlike Bitcoin mining, which is mainly done with special purpose integrated circuits or ASIC devices, i.e. chips that are specially made for this task, Ethereum mining usually uses graphics processing units (GPUs), which are also used in other computer processes. are used The rise in popularity of Ethereum mining was a key factor in GPU price growth in 2021; So that Nvidia started producing GPUs for mining.

However, in the last few months, as Ethereum has moved towards a proof-of-stake consensus model, the price of GPUs has also dropped significantly. This major update, referred to as Ethereum Network Merge, has been constantly delayed for the past few months.

This new miner called “Antminer E9” was unveiled more than a year ago. This model, which will go on sale today at 17:30 Tehran time, is slightly more efficient in terms of energy consumption than the device that was unveiled last year, and instead of 8.5 J/TH (J/TH) it is approximately 8 J/TH ( J/TH) consumes. Bitmain said that the processing power of this miner is equivalent to 25 graphics cards of the “Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080” model, and it is less powerful than the equivalent of 32 graphics cards that was promised last year.

In 2018, Bitmain introduced another Ethereum mining rig called “Antminer E3”; But now it no longer sells this model on its website.

Nothing found.
