The feature of sending one-time messages is coming to WhatsApp. With this feature, sent text messages will be deleted once the recipient has been viewed.

WhatsApp is apparently developing a new feature that will allow users to send messages that are automatically deleted after being viewed by the recipient. The ability to send a one-time message, named “view-one”, is being tested in the beta version of this platform.

WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature called “view-one” that will prevent users from copying or forwarding messages that have been viewed by recipients. Additionally, recipients cannot take screenshots of these messages. One-time message sending feature of WhatsApp was seen in beta version 2.22.25.20, for Android platform.

WhatsApp had previously offered a similar feature for photos and videos, but it was not available for text messages. The lack of the ability to send one-time messages made WhatsApp lag behind its popular competitors such as Telegram and Snapchat. By adding this feature, WhatsApp users can chat more securely with their audience and not worry about the messages sent to others.

The “view-one” option isn’t the only ephemeral messaging feature that WhatsApp offers. The platform currently allows users to send messages that automatically disappear after a certain amount of time. The mentioned feature is available for individual and group chats, and depending on the user’s settings, it offers the possibility of disappearing messages after 24 hours to 90 days.

Through the one-time message sending feature in the future, messages sent from WhatsApp will disappear immediately after being viewed by the recipient. WhatsApp’s security feature provides users with a new layer of privacy security and helps prevent messages from being copied or forwarded. The “view-one” feature is currently being tested on the beta version of the platform and is expected to be rolled out to all users in the near future.
