Pakistan is building another nuclear power plant with the help of China


According to Fars News Agency, media sources reported on Wednesday that China has reached an agreement with the Pakistani government to build a 1,200 megawatt nuclear power plant worth $4.8 billion.

According to the news channel “SYNNPakistan Atomic Energy Commission and China National Nuclear Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed this issue and stated that the work on the Cheshma-5 nuclear power plant will start soon. Sharif saw this agreement as a sign of increasing economic cooperation between the two countries and promised to complete this project without delay.

This nuclear power plant will help Pakistan move away from fossil fuels. Pakistan plans to provide electricity for its 200 million people by building nuclear power plants. Iran is one of the current electricity suppliers of this neighboring country.

“China’s $4.8 billion investment in this project sends a loud and clear message that Pakistan is a place that Chinese companies and investors can show their confidence in by operating there,” said Sharif.

Cheshme-5 project is being built in Punjab province. China’s support will help Pakistan move away from reliance on fossil fuels.

Pakistan’s total nuclear energy production capacity increased to 1400 MW with the opening of the country’s sixth nuclear power plant two years ago. This 1100 MW power plant located in the city of Karachi was also built with the help of China.

The prime minister of Pakistan criticized the previous government during the prime ministership of “Imran Khan” for delaying the implementation of this project.

Pakistan is one of the world’s nuclear powers and is equipped with nuclear weapons. Some think tanks have reported that this country will become the third nuclear power in the world. Pakistan’s neighbor India is also equipped with nuclear weapons and all kinds of missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
