Peskov: In today’s world, no country can be isolated

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that it is impossible to isolate Russia despite the plans of unfriendly countries and despite the advancement of technology.

“Despite the fact that unfriendly, or rather hostile, countries are trying to isolate us economically, politically and in terms of trade,” Peskov was quoted as saying by the Tass news agency, citing pressure from Western countries to isolate Russia in the international system. But no one is talking about isolation here.

“They can not stop us because in today’s world it is impossible to isolate a country, especially a big country like Russia,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

At the same time, he added, no country wants to isolate itself.

Since the beginning of the Ukraine crisis, the United States and Europe have sought to limit political, economic, sports, etc. relations with Russia, and have targeted the country with increasing sanctions. However, many believe that sanctions have not been reached so far.

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder recently told the New York Times that isolating a country like Russia in the long run was neither politically nor economically possible.

“They (the Russians) need oil and gas to pay for their budgets,” he said. And we need oil and gas to warm up and maintain the economy. You can not isolate a country like Russia in the long run, neither politically nor economically. German industry needs the raw materials that Russia has. This is not just oil and gas, it is also scarce soil. These are raw materials that are not easily replaced.
