Possible release date of MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max – Apple’s next silicons

Last month, Apple unveiled the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with the new M2 chip. While the 13-inch MacBook Pro was exactly the same as the previous generation, the Air version has been redesigned and a notch has been added like the 14-inch and 16-inch Pro models. According to the talks Mark Gurman Apple will release new MacBook Pro models with silicon M2 Pro and M2 Max this fall. Apparently, the tech giant has started working on more powerful versions of the M2. Gurman says that the new notebooks will not change in appearance, and the only change will be an updated processor.

Similar to how the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models benefited from different versions of the M1, the new models will follow the same trend to be equipped with different versions of the M2. While not much is known about the upcoming chips, Gurman claims that the M2 Pro and M2 Max will focus on the graphics department. In fact, these two probably have the superior silicon that M2 has compared to M1 in front of its smaller brother. The new models are currently expected to be available between fall 2022 and spring 2023.

It was recently revealed that Apple has changed the dual NAND storage chip in the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro to a single NAND chip. This has caused the SSD performance of these models to decrease. Silicon M2, however, is up to 11.56% faster in single core and up to 19.45% faster in multi-core than M1. We expect to see the same trend with the M2 Pro and M2 Max compared to the M1 Pro and M1 Max.

However, Gurman noted that given the continued supply chain challenges, it’s a little hard to predict when Apple will release its new MacBook Pros. In fact, the current information is just a rumor and cannot be fully confirmed.
