According to Tasnim news agency, Daily Mail and Sun newspapers have claimed that it is possible that Chelsea club will return Frank Lampard to the technical staff of this team for the remaining period until the end of the season.
At the beginning of this week, Chelsea fired their second coach of the season, Graham Potter, and handed the helm of the team to his assistant Bruno Salter. Chelsea’s performance in last night’s (Tuesday) goalless home draw against Liverpool, however, has led the club’s managers to the conclusion that they should consider hiring a bigger manager.
Considering the current stage of the season, hiring a great coach without a team like Yulian Naglesman seems difficult, while imposing additional costs on the club. On the other hand, Chelsea still has a chance to advance in the Champions League. For these reasons, the club’s managers may not consider Saltur to have enough competence to continue working as a head coach, nor are they willing to sign a definite and long-term contract with a new coach. In this situation, they may consider hiring a temporary but well-known coach like Lampard.
The former Chelsea star, who watched the London Blues’ game against Liverpool last night from the stands at Stamford Bridge, was sacked by Everton earlier this year. Lampard’s first spell in charge at Chelsea came to an end after a heavy defeat at home to Manchester City in January 2021, but he has now been linked with the Blues once again.
