Pourgholamohsin: The good thing about the Puppet Theater Festival is the opportunity to watch other works

According to the theater reporter of Fars News Agency, the 9th Tehran-Mubarak Puppet Theater Festival is experiencing its final days. During these days, we sat down to watch a play that had a children’s and puppet narrative of the war.

The show “280th Night of the Year” written and directed by Marjan Pourgholamohsin was staged on Tuesday (July 13th) using the micro theater technique at the 19th Tehran-Mubarak International Puppet Show Festival.

Pourghlam Mohsin said about the story of this show: “This show is the story of a young Isfahan boy who went to war and now narrates the memories of 12 hours of his life.”

Pointing out that the holy defense is one of the most important events in Iran’s contemporary history, he continued: “The war is the strangest, bitterest and biggest event in the last 50 years of this land.”

The artist added: “In my opinion, we have addressed the Iran-Iraq war very little or incompletely.” My entire childhood and that of my generation passed with the stress and worry of the war, and the impact of this bitter and influential event in Iran’s contemporary history has been so great in our lives that I personally need to talk about it for a long time.

Pourghlamsin continued: “War is bad all over the world, especially if one side is as oppressed as we are.”

He also pointed to the use of the microtheatre technique and explained: “First of all, I have to thank Hassan Majjuni as the first artist who introduced the microtheatre technique in Iran. “He gave me and the other guys a chance to learn this technique and work with it.”

The artist added: “Microtheatre has a brilliant feature. “This technique expands the possibilities and the border it creates between cinema and theater is very attractive.”

The director of the “280th Night of the Year” show went on to say: “I believe that the theater has special facilities, the puppet theater multiplies these facilities and the microtheatre many times more. In fact, it is a marine microtheatre that you can use its facilities and achieve a more attractive way of performance.

He said about the relationship between the audience and the performance: “Even though microtheatre is not well known in Iran, fortunately the audience had a good relationship with the work and their reception made the show reach a special session.”

This artist did not consider the reception of the audience to be limited only to the performance of the “280th night of the year” and added: “Thank God, the 19th Tehran-Mubarak International Puppet Show Festival, contrary to what I imagined, has been well received by the audience and this is an important and pleasant event. “

He explained: “One of the good events of the festival is the opportunity given to the directors present in this artistic event to watch the works of other participating artists.”

Referring to the refereeing department, Pourgholamohsin said: “Being a referee is a difficult task. During my years of activity in this field, I have always avoided judging as much as possible. You must be fair in judging and it is essential that you do not deal with the effect of taste.

He pointed out an interesting point and added: “Since the judges are on stage in similar conditions with the artists of other groups, they get stressed with the slightest inconsistency on stage and worry about the performance of their colleagues.”

The artist explained about the grants for this period of the festival: “As the name says, these amounts are grants, and they certainly cannot be fully responsible for the high cost of producing theatrical works, but again, for the increase in grants from the secretary of this event and I also thank the General Department of Performing Arts. The 19th edition of the Tehran-Mubarak Puppet Festival was held in an orderly manner and without the usual distractions of such events, due to the sympathetic presence of the country’s theater managers and the efficient management of its organizing staff.
