The head of the Information Technology Organization announced that they have put the production of one million domestic smartphones on the agenda. According to Khansari, this year at least 500 billion tomans of employment creation facilities have been considered for this purpose.
According to Digiato report and quoted by IRNA, “Mohammed Khansari”, the head of the Information Technology Organization, explained the plans of this organization in the Fava industry for 1402 and said: “One of the plans is the production of domestic smartphones, which this year at least 500 billion tomans Job creation facilities have been considered for it and our construction target One million smartphones Is.”
Domestic smartphone production is an issue raised by the Supreme Council of Cyberspace. This council has emphasized on achieving 20% of the smartphone market share by using local products.
The implementation of this goal has been put on the agenda of the Ministry of Communications of the 12th government. In June 1400, the Deputy Minister of Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Communications announced the Ministry’s 5-year plan to produce more than 14 million mobile phones.
In January of the same year, Star Hashemi announced in an interview with Digiato that in order to support domestic manufacturers, the pilot plan to produce national phones will be implemented soon. There is no information about the implementation of the plan.
Support for native operating system development
In another part of his speech, Khansari mentioned support for the development of the operating system and said that resources have been included for it and companies have declared their capabilities. Khansari expressed his hope that this matter will come to a good end in 1402.
It was December of last year that the Ministry of Communications called for the production of a native operating system for mobile phones. In the call published by the vice-chancellor of technology and innovation of the Ministry of Communications, it was stated:
“In line with the implementation of clause 18 of the operational goals of the National Information Network Architecture and Master Plan document and in order to identify the technical and executive capacities for the production and development of a smart mobile phone operating system, from among natural and legal persons including private, non-governmental companies and non-governmental organizations, which until the 20th of January 1401 have at least one operating system installed on the smartphone, are invited for evaluation.
The development of the Iranian version of Android is also one of the tasks of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, which is entrusted to the Ministry of Communications.
The Ministry of Communications of the twelfth government also entered into the discussion of producing a customized version of Android with the aim of countering the removal of Iranian businesses from Android phones.
Providing billions of Tomans for business development
